Aluminum Scrap
Aluminium scrap is a type of mixed non-ferrous metal scrap primarily composed of aluminium (70-90%) and other non-ferrous metals such as copper, brass, zinc, and magnesium. It is generated from the shredding of end-of-life vehicles (ELVs), household appliances, aluminium cans, packaging, and construction materials.
Key specifications
- Aluminium content: 70-90%
- Other non-ferrous metals: Copper, brass, zinc, magnesium
- Possible contaminants: Rubber, plastic, paper, and foil
- Density: 2.7-4.5 g/cm³ depending on composition
- Size: Typically ranges from 1-3 inches
Due to its mixed nature, aluminium scrap undergoes further separation processes such as eddy current separation, flotation, and sensor-based sorting to extract pure aluminium and other valuable metals.
